Don't just take our word for it!

As a licensed clinical social worker, doTERRA® Wellness Advocate Laraine Gordon works with the non-profit organization, Time for Teens, in hopes of helping young people who have experienced loss and bereavement due to the death of a loved one. Gordon started Time for Teens in 2007 to help teenagers from ages 12-19 properly deal with the trauma that comes with loss through education, counseling, and therapy.

While Time for Teens works to help youth in the Southampton, NY area, the organization strives to offer help to teens throughout the world who are grieving because of loss. Recently, Time for Teens joined forces with doTERRA to help young people affected by Hurricane Maria in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. In the autumn of 2017, Hurricane Maria brought massive destruction and devastating fatalities to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Deemed as the worst natural disaster ever recorded in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria created a substantial death toll and destroyed the majority of the land, housing, and structures in the hardest-hit areas. In addition to the catastrophic damage and severe loss of life, many people remained missing long after the hurricane dissipated, and both Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic were without power for an extended period of time.

Working with Laraine Gordon and doTERRA Diamond sponsor Amanda Olsen, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation participated in a matching campaign to help benefit children and young people in the area of Mayaguez. The matching campaign helped to fund the building of a new playground for children, the purchase of school supplies, and access to clean water and essential medical supplies. Many of the donations were given to an orphanage in Mayaguez, in order to benefit children who had experienced the loss of their loved ones as a result of the hurricane. The matching campaign allowed doTERRA and Time for Teens to provide the orphanage with funds for clothes, shoes, diapers, and bedding, along with doTERRA products to be used by children in the orphanage.

Speaking of the playground rebuilding project, Laraine Gordon says, “The children ran out onto the playground and were so happy to be outside playing on what we rebuilt. This playground is part of the healing for them.”

“I attended a “Love Your Life” Retreat hosted by Laraine Gordon held in Rincon, Puerto Rico. This was an experience that is hard to put into words but will never be forgotten. New friendships were formed and transformations happened that were life changing. Keep an eye out for future Love Your Life Retreats that benefit Time for Teens, they are not to be missed.”
